Overview of FMA

BlackRock's Financial Markets Advisory group (“FMA”) provides counsel to financial institutions, sovereigns and official institutions across a range of strategic, capital, balance sheet, risk and regulatory matters. At the heart of “BlackRock as a platform” FMA strives to build and deepen BlackRock’s relationships with our clients’ senior management, serving them on their most critical and sophisticated needs.

The group unites extensive capital markets expertise, complex engagement management capabilities, data and analytics proficiency, and strategic client advisory insights. With approximately 200 team members worldwide, FMA maintains a tailored and specialized approach to drive BlackRock’s key commercial priorities, working where the firm has unique perspective and capabilities.

FMA operates as regional businesses that share a core mission and set of objectives. We partner closely on global opportunities while retaining a focus on regional clients. The Americas FMA team has considerable experience serving US-based banks, spanning G-SIBs to regionals, as well as market infrastructure providers, governmental entities, insurance companies and other financial institutions.

Role Overview

We are looking for candidates with a keen interest in financial markets, technology, and analytics to join our FMA team. This role spans across the entire client engagement lifecycle, from pitches to daily execution to delivery of analyses, and involves close collaboration within cross-functional teams across FMA and the firm. It offers valuable insight into financial institutions' priorities, markets, risk, regulation, and other relevant topics.

You will be responsible for learning and utilizing BlackRock’s Aladdin platform to create analytical tools and frameworks that help clients achieve their strategic objectives. To gain a deep understanding of the breadth and depth of Aladdin’s analytical capabilities, you will spend the first 12 – 18 months dedicated to working in the Core Analytics Solutions (CAS) team within Aladdin Financial Engineering (AFE) before moving permanently into FMA. CAS partners with analytics, data and technology teams to create and deliver innovative solutions using the full suite of Aladdin’s capabilities to internal and external stakeholders across investment and client businesses.

FMA is responsible for delivering many of BlackRock’s most sophisticated cross-firm initiatives. This role partners closely with business divisions across the firm globally to enhance and leverage BlackRock’s platform to drive the expansion of the firm’s capabilities and strengthen connectivity with clients.

We stay abreast of trends in capital markets and financial institutions to anticipate their impact on client opportunities. Staying informed about the constantly evolving landscape of relevant technologies and tools is essential to success.

Capabilities

  • Intermediate Python programming skills; familiarity with other programming languages a plus

  • Knowledge of financial concepts

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets

  • Comfort with a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Able to effectively communicate and collaborate in a team and client-focused environment

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical field

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$111,625.00 - USD$132,500.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
