FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Philosophy at Hunter College, CUNY seeks a new tenured or tenure-stream appointment with research specialty in Ancient and/or Islamic philosophy, and an ability to teach advanced undergraduate courses in both areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor:
Required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or must provide convincing evidence that they will complete a Ph.D. prior to the start of Hunter College’s Fall, 2025 semester.
Area of specialization: The successful applicant will have a track record of research excellence in Ancient Philosophy and/or Islamic philosophy, commensurate with their experience level, and will have a promising agenda for future research.
Area of competence: A track record of excellent undergraduate teaching is also required. The candidate will be expected to teach three undergraduate courses per semester (six per year), including courses in both Ancient Philosophy and Islamic Philosophy, and will show evidence of their ability to teach excellent courses in these areas
If a candidate is hired pre-tenure, they will begin with six course releases to be used during their first five years.
COMPENSATION

Full professor salary range is $119,995-141,858. Associate professor salary range is $100,329-$117,805. Assistant professor salary range is $82-929-$99,532.
