The Role at a glance:

Cater to You has an exciting opportunity for an Executive Chef to lead catering and event production and support our culinary teams. Our ideal Executive Chef will champion our farm to table philosophy and implement the structure and organization necessary for a first-class program. Responsibilities include-overseeing catering and event programs; supporting our commissary kitchen and delivery teams; supporting on-site unit managers with associated catering and events. Additionally, the Executive Chef will support our daily dining service programs for 25+ locations in the Greater NYC area.

Your Pay:

$105,000 to $115,000 / year

What you'll be doing:

Essential Functions

  • Act as the culinary ambassador for CTY- driving culinary vision and philosophy.

  • Lead menu planning, recipe development, new product testing and implementation

  • Work closely with event planners and clients to tailor menus and culinary experiences to specific events.

  • Lead on site execution of catering and events as assigned- AM/PM, evenings, and weekends.

  • Quickly identify and resolve issues that arise during the planning or execution of an event

  • Coordinate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service during events.

  • Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food at events, ensuring timely and efficient service

  • Manage dietary needs/allergen restrictions and ensure diners nutritional safety as needed

  • Maintain consistent quality and standards across all events.

  • Coordinate logistics for food delivery and setup at off-site events

  • Assist Chefs and Event Managers as requested in areas such as plate presentation, event menu planning and the design of new service stations.

  • Design and develop creative, seasonal and cost-effective foodservice and catering menus.

  • Develop recipe standards and portion specifications in accordance with CTY company philosophy and unit specific tastes.

  • Create and maintain recipes in Galley- including ingredients, allergens, step by step instructions, finished product photo, product specifications, and recipe cost. Ensure they are communicated to and followed by the culinary teams.

  • Collaborate with all CTY teams on the implementation of all programs and resources related to recipe and menu development, costing and inventory control.

  • Manage food costs and labor expenses to ensure profitability while maintaining high culinary standards

  • Communicate frequently and effectively with key points of contact including CTY support staff, on- site program managers, Catering and Event Managers, Banquet Captains and Service Staff.

  • Perform all other related duties, additional tasks, and projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position directly manages all employees of their assigned work location and is responsible for the performance management of said employees.

Work Environment

The work environment can be loud and busy. There are many kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and liquids, sharp knives, and slippery floors. Ability to lift, move and/or transport up to 50 pounds is required.

  • Ability to mentor and develop kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with major concentration in culinary arts, hospitality management, nutrition, or related field.

  • Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive experience in high-volume food production and catering, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years supervising and leading production teams.

  • NYC Food handler’s, ServSafe Manager and Aller Train certifications required
