Position: Driver

Program: Fort Washington Men’s Shelter

Salary Range: $18.375 - $23.00

Program Description:

The Fort Washington Men’s Shelter is a 200-bed temporary shelter which Project Renewal manages under a contract with the Department of Homeless Services and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Comprehensive psychiatric, medical and case management services are provided to homeless men who have been diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse.

Overall responsibilities:

Fort Washington Driver is responsible clients for daily as well as as-needed transportation services throughout the New York City metro area. As well as Inter-office mail distribution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with client’s transportation to and from appointments as needed.

• Assist with clients move outs.

• Pick-up and drop-off of clients shelter meals.

• Pick-up and drop-off inter-organizational mail between Project Renewal locations.

• Deliver vehicle when it needs repairs, service, or inspections.

• Ensure that state registration and inspection stickers are applied to vehicles.

• Transport staff to and/or from meetings and events as needed.

• Assist with the maintenance of vehicles.

• Move items, including furniture, between locations as needed.

• Work on tasks and projects as assigned by supervisor.

  Qualifications:

• A High School Diploma or GED

• Valid New York State driver’s license.

• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff; and

• Ability to set priorities for daily assignments and to meet deadlines.

• Experience working with people diagnosed with mental illness or having a substance abuse addiction a plus.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially e-mail, WORD, and EXCEL.

  All newly hired Project Renewal staff must provide verification of being fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
