Citizens Director of Investment Communications in New York, New York

You will play a critical role in shaping our organization’s ability to compete effectively in the market by equipping our executive team and investment professionals with information and tools that support our strategies, acquiring new business and relationship development. This position requires a deep understanding of investments, the investment market, advisory and investment management practices, and investment related communication strategies that support a variety of strategic objectives. Deep experience will be needed in producing communication through a variety of channels that include newsletters, white papers, forums, education sessions, presentations, videos, and other modern techniques. Communication delivery channels will span internal audiences at all levels and clients. The role is suited for a strategic thinker who can not only develop and oversee the communication strategy but also has a hands-on approach to executing regular value add communications.

The Director of Investment Communications will report to the Chief Investment Officer. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Owns and leads the development and execution of the investment communications strategic plan and communications programs in support of organizational goals. This includes leading the development, execution and measurement our content/editorial and distribution strategies.

  • Drives new and existing customer engagement, revenue growth, internal product awareness, and thought leadership through the implementation of a value-added and continuously evolving content strategy

  • Analyzes company’s business objectives, audience needs and selects appropriate channels for delivery (e.g., presentation, email, video, forum, etc.)

  • Synthesizes inputs from a myriad of discovery activities to form a clear, cohesive and focused approach to developing and delivering value-add content

  • Provides executive level communications support to the CIO and other top executives in the form of written pieces, speeches, presentations and key stakeholder meetings with internal and external audiences.

  • Builds a thought leadership community where relevant topics of importance and interest can be addressed

  • Ensures successful development and delivery of a variety of high profile executive communication techniques and initiatives across the company, including internal communications; messaging for quarterly executive leadership meetings; implementation of colleague town hall meetings with executive engagement; and positioning, securing and writing keynote speeches to industry, trade, or other business groups.

  • Assists the Chief Investment Officer in guiding the company through complex communication issues with an emphasis on executive management messaging and positioning.

  • Leads a team of communication professionals to deliver best in class communications. Coach to maximize effectiveness. Ensure a high focus on colleague development and engagement.

  • Develops, leads and manages communication production with a hands-on approach, ensures superb quality through effective editorial reviews, consistent and continual delivery of new and relevant information

  • Partners with Risk, Compliance and Marketing to ensure all regulatory, compliance, and branding guidelines are adhered to

  • Forges strong collaborative partnerships with industry and internal investment professionals

  • Travel is required approximately 50% of the time to facilitate forums, develop content and conduct research

Qualifications

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, preferably in marketing, communications or related field with advanced degree

  • 15+ years of job experience in the financial markets and financial investing

  • 10+ years of experience with content strategy creation and management, journalism, content creation, and content design

  • 10+ years of experience independently creating and leading communication strategies, designing and delivering best in class communications through a variety of mediums

  • Advanced communication skills to develop relevant topics of interest and engaging presentations for all levels of the organization

Preferred:

  • Advanced designation of MBA or CFA not required but viewed favorably.

  • Experience with Fortune 500 organizational environments.

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
