City of New York Deputy Chief of Staff to the Borough Commissioner in New York, New York
Job Description

Major Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Chief of Staff and part of the Commissioner’s office team, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, manage difficult and responsible professional work.
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Bronx Borough Commissioner's Office, including supervising staff who oversee the Commissioner’s schedule, the Agency’s correspondence, and special projects.
Serve as liaison to City Hall, other City, State and Federal agencies and oversee projects within the Agency on behalf of the Commissioner.
Manage the borough elected official’s interactions report.
Work with all divisions within the Agency to solicit and synthesize policy ideas.
Work on inter and intra-governmental issues/projects.
Conduct research, analyze, and synthesize information from across the Agency to prepare correspondence, PowerPoint presentations, reports, and briefing documents for the Commissioner.
Accompany the Commissioner to internal and external meetings.
Serve as a representative for the Chief of Staff as needed.
Represent the Commissioner at Agency and external meetings.
Work with the Capital Director to conduct borough needs assessments, organize meetings, and achieve the fruition of capital projects and other special projects assigned.
Support the Capital Director and Chief of Staff conduct borough needs assessments, organize meetings, and achieve the fruition of capital projects.
Assist in maintaining and creating the license agreements.
Assist in planning and executing press events, including but not limited to ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, and ceremonies.
Oversee and manage the Jointly Operated Playgrounds (JOP) program.
Coordinate special projects as directed by the Borough Commissioner and Chief of Staff.

Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
