NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing Compliance Specialist in New York, New York

Position Summary

The Compliance Specialist collaborates with compliance officials across NYU's global network of campuses to align processes and ensure consistency across all programs. Reviews COI disclosures within the CAYUSE Outside Interests module and advises the COI Manager on potential conflicts. Acts as an administrative resource for NYU faculty, staff, and researchers, providing assistance and guidance on routine conflict of interest (COI) disclosure questions and issues. Identifies and documents emerging risks to ensure compliance with federal, state, and university-mandated laws, regulations, and policies. Performs compliance and regulatory activities to support NYU's Office of Conflict of Interest to ensure adherence to federal regulations and institutional policies.

Qualifications

Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Required Experience:

2+ years Experience in higher education, research administration, and/or research compliance including conflict of interest.

Preferred Experience:

3+ years Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of state and federal regulations regarding research compliance and conflicts of interest preferable in a large research institution.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

• Understanding of current federal regulations related to research compliance, including conflict of interest. • Familiarity with internal conflict of interest and research compliance processes at the institutional level. • Ability to interpret and apply policies, and effectively communicate them to the COI Manager and research community. • Experience in training or communicating regulations to investigators, with a focus on clarity and accessibility. • Skilled at providing administrative support for research initiatives, ensuring compliance documentation is accurate and organized. • Ability to manage relationships with investigators, sponsors, and regulatory agencies. • Strong ability to build collaborative relationships across various organizational levels, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. • Ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining meticulous attention to detail. • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adherence to data privacy standards and legal regulations. • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to address sensitive topics with empathy and inclusivity. • Ability to maintain and manage regulatory documentation and databases, with knowledge of systems like CAYUSE a plus. • High level of professionalism, diplomacy, and tact in all interactions. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with grants management systems (e.g., CAYUSE) is a plus. • Willingness to participate in special projects and task forces as needed. • High energy, strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for advancing NYU’s mission in research and education. • Must possess excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and a basic understanding of the research compliance regulatory landscape.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Ability to demonstrate complex regulatory analysis, problem solving, and organizational skills. Ability to read and interpret scientific and/or regulatory jargon to ensure grants congruency and regulatory compliance.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $85,500.00 to USD $104,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
