Schedule: Hybrid Schedule (post 90-day successful employment)
Salary Range: $45,000 - $50,000
Program Description:
Next Step is Project Renewal’s award-winning job placement program which places homeless, formerly homeless, and low-income individuals in competitive employment. Since 2000, Project Renewal has helped nearly 5,000 New Yorkers find and retain employment, achieve economic security, lead more fulfilling lives, and positively contribute to their communities. We enroll over 500 adults each year who have significant barriers to employment including those with histories of homelessness, substance use, underemployment, mental health diagnoses and criminal justice involvement. Our comprehensive approach allows us to work individually with each client to minimize barriers to employment and prepare them for the world of work.
Overall Responsibilities:
The Community Engagement and Recruitment Specialist is responsible for meeting the recruitment and enrollment goals for Project Renewal’s Next Step Internship Program (NSIP). NSIP is a training program for careers in homeless services which includes an 8-week classroom-based training and paid on-the-job internships at a homeless shelter or supportive housing. This role will present to and engage with a variety of stakeholders including potential clients, social service agencies, community-based organizations, HRA, and veterans’ organizations, etc. This role will require working with other department staff in developing a recruitment strategy as well as maintaining recruitment materials. The Community Engagement and Recruitment Specialist will travel throughout NYC to conduct outreach presentations and recruitment events and is responsible for meeting program performance goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of the NSIP and CAP, duties include, but are not limited to:
Community Outreach and Recruitment
Create a pipeline of qualified clients for each training cohort
Present the Next Step Internship Program and relevant workforce development programs to potential clients and referring partners
Meet referral and enrollment goals for the training cohorts
Prepare for and represent the program at career fairs, info sessions, and networking events
Network with various supportive services agencies to secure referrals
Develop new partnerships and recruitment sites
Create reports and summaries of outcomes
Coordinate with government agencies to determine and track student eligibility on specific contracts
Intake
Conduct info sessions, schedule interviews and intakes for clients and complete enrollment paperwork.
Screen clients to determine eligibility for program
Conduct intakes and assessments of eligible clients to determine barriers to employment and best fit for program including level of job readiness and motivation
Support clients up until training start date to ensure that supportive resources are in place, and they are prepared to attend the entire training with minimal disruption
Ensure all paperwork for each client is accurately completed and meets contract and program requirements
Document, maintain and upload all required documents for all clients interviewed for the program in a timely manner.
Collaborate with the Human Resource Department regarding submission of documents and background checks for incoming clients
Maintain database of referral partners and clients using Salesforce

Knowledge of virtual platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Classroom, etc)
Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM system
Qualifications:
Passion for Project Renewal’s mission
High School diploma (required)
Three to four years of experience in recruitment, sales, or partnership development
Knowledge of virtual platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Slack, Google Classroom, etc.…)
Preferred: Good working knowledge of Salesforce or another database
Strong presentation and public speaking skills required
Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire and engage adult learners
Prior experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals who have been incarcerated, struggled with substance use, or faced mental health challenges (preferred)
Ability to travel to various locations
Flexibility for occasional evening and weekend events
All newly hired Project Renewal staff must provide verification of being fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
