The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking to recruit an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide clinical care and clinical research working under the supervision of the attending physician. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for evaluation and management of patients with neurological conditions which may require neurosurgery.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Take medical histories and perform physical examinations with attending physician in outpatient setting.
  • Prescribe medications, and manage patients by phone as appropriate; seeing selected patients in routine follow up and for urgent same day, next day appointments.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Assist in coordinating of operative schedule.
  • Coordinate admissions; prepare patients for discharge and make daily rounds.
  • Coordinate and facilitate patient education both pre-operatively as well as post-operatively.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary services, participate and present at multidisciplinary tumor board.
  • Participate in clinical research protocols using Good Clinical Practices (GCP) related to patient care.
  • Other duties as assigned/required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) with prescriptive privileges (or eligibility); plus 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Current New York State NP and RN license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in neurosurgery, neurology, critical care, or emergency department care preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Certification by ANCC, or AANP. DEA certification required.
  • BLS certification and ANCC Board Certification.
  • Must be able to meet credentialing requirements by NYP.
  • Travel to clinical site(s) for patient care.
