Position Summary

This position sits within the Global Financial Institutions Industry Group (FIIG) Business Development team, which is part of the Firm's wider Global Clients & Industries Team.
This role will be the primary BD contact responsible for the client relationship management of select FIIG Key and Priority Clients.
Working closely with the Global Industry Group Leaders, the Global Financial Institutions BD Lead, and the respective Client Relationship Partners, this role will support and drive strategic growth initiatives, client development, market positioning and brand recognition, and profitable revenue growth for the industry group.

Duties and Accountabilities1

Client Communications and Market Knowledge

  • Act as the primary business development contact for internal and external stakeholders related to designated FIIG Key and Priority Client accounts
  • Gain a deep understanding of client businesses, markets, products, and strategies to proactively identify opportunities for revenue growth
  • Share relevant insights, thought leadership, and updates with clients to position the Firm as a trusted advisor

Strategy and Operations

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement client-specific strategies that align with Firm goals and client expectations
  • Lead initiatives to explore new revenue opportunities across different locations and practice areas
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for internal stakeholders on client activities and financial progress
  • Implement and manage IT tools for contact mapping and organization charts (e.g., global CRM, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, market research tools)
  • Lead or participate in significant proposals and panels related to designated clients

Team Collaboration

  • Leverage firm-wide capabilities and introduce specialists to meet client needs
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., pro bono, diversity & inclusion) to enhance client relationships
  • Collaborate with Events team to organize flagship and new client events, including social events, partnerships, and client trainings
  • Lead the integration of lateral partners with relevant client relationship teams
  • Manage the entire secondment process, from creating the business case to candidate preparation, check-ins, debriefs, and follow-ups on action items
  • Develop engagement ideas and support associates in various business development opportunities

Performance Analysis and Reporting

  • Plan and conduct regular client relationship meetings, including proposing discussion topics, identifying attendees, and preparing materials showcasing Firm capabilities and financial information
  • Conduct meaningful client feedback sessions to foster relationships, gather insights, and ensure service excellence. Monitor the implementation of feedback
  • Actively analyze financial performance of client accounts, taking proactive measures to meet financial targets

Qualifications

  • A sound track-record of business development experience at an experienced manager level, preferably within a law firm and/or large international organization
  • Comfortable working across multiple cultures and time zones
  • Experience managing key accounts in an international professional services context, with a focus in financial services sector preferred
  • Familiarity with client development activities in an international law firm or professional services environment
  • High standards of professionalism with strong attention to detail and a strategic mindset
  • Excellent drafting, research, organizational, and communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Pragmatic, self-motivated, and flexible with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to take on additional tasks as and when required
  • Proficient in MS Office suite; experience with iManage or similar document management systems preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities with a diplomatic approach
  • Assertive and impactful demeanor with a positive outlook
  • Good team player and team/project management experience

Location and Reporting

  • This is a hybrid role based in our New York office.
  • This role reports to the Global Financial Institutions BD Lead.
