The anticipated salary range for this role is between $325,000.00 and $325,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

This role is responsible for leading the US Cash Management Deposits organization, overseeing all aspects of client liquidity management including client deposit gathering approaches, account structuring and optimizing the liquidity needs of clients across time zones and geographies. This includes developing and implementing strategies for clients to optimize cash flow, improve liquidity forecasting, and ensure bank compliance with both US and international regulatory requirements. This role requires collaboration with Sales, the Treasury function and other various departments to provide comprehensive cash management solutions and drive innovation in liquidity management. This role will report into the head of cash management for the US.

Role Objectives: Delivery

  • Develop and implement liquidity strategies to optimize SMBC client cash flows and liquidity positions based on client input and needs.

  • Oversee the management of liquidity products, including sweeping, pooling, forecasting, and short-term investments.

  • Collaborate with corporate clients to enhance cash forecasting and liquidity management capabilities through a client backed approach.

  • Manage team of product managers, as well as product sales specialists for US clients.

  • Collaborate closely with Relationship Managers to develop client based solutions and outcomes.

  • Partner with the US Cash Management Product Management team, along with Technology and Operations teams, as well as the US Treasury team to deliver innovative and client-backed solutions.

  • Manage a P&L for corporate client liquidity offerings.

  • Serve as subject matter expert on liquidity management and solutions.

Role Objectives: Expertise

  • Minimum 10 years in liquidity management, cash management, and treasury functions, preferably within a multinational bank.

  • Experience in working in an agile environment with client backed design based and modern approaches to product conception, design and delivery.

  • Experience working in a matrixed business organization.

  • Experience working with global multinational corporations and clients.

  • Experience in managing P&Ls.

  • Understanding of new technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence and their potential applications to cash management.

  • Strong understanding of liquidity products, cash management processes, and global market trends.

  • Expertise in liquidity accuracy, regulatory compliance, and liquidity stress testing.
