Role Description

The Senior Vice President - Business Controls Lead will be responsible for in-business control assessments, regulatory change management, key remediation efforts and continuous process improvement. This position works closely with Business stakeholders as well as Independent Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Operations and other cross-functional partners to assess and strengthen the control environment. The position reports to the Head of NAM CCB IBRC.

Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Assess, design and strengthen controls to ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies, in collaboration with business and functional subject matter experts.

  • Assess impact of new and existing U.S. and Canadian regulations on business controls, in collaboration with Independent Compliance Risk Management and Legal.

  • Provide advisory support to the Business (e.g., Industry Heads, Bankers, Relationship Associates) on a daily basis.

  • Review and challenge strategic business initiatives to support the new product and new activity governance process.

  • Address Internal Audit, Compliance Testing and regulatory requests, and analyze lessons learned to continuously improve controls.

  • Project manage CCB remediation efforts, including corrective actions resulting from audit findings, regulatory examinations, regulatory consent order implementation and other significant projects or tasks involving CCB.

  • Design and conduct periodic monitoring and testing routines as part of the Manager’s Control Assessment (MCA) framework.

  • Prepare and refresh business procedures documents and associated process flows.

  • Oversee team members on a project basis.

  • Build trusted relationships with business leaders, functional process and product owners, other IBRC teams as well as second- and third-line of defense partners.

  • Track and communicate progress to CCB leadership and stakeholders, including presentations in governance meetings.

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a control function (first, second or third line of defense) or project management role focused on operational and/or compliance risk management at a financial institution or consulting firm.

  • Experience supporting bank products and services for institutional clients, such as commercial banking, treasury & trade solutions, or corporate & investment banking.

  • In-depth understanding of U.S. bank and broker-dealer regulatory requirements. Experience in prudential regulation screening (e.g., Reg W, Reg O) is a plus.

  • Experience leading or addressing Internal Audit and regulatory requests.

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and experience, including the ability to communicate complex analytical ideas in a way that is understandable.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLookUp).

  • Successful experience operating within a multi-disciplined function, and juggling competing priorities and deliverables.

  • Strong relationship/partnership skills, with the ability to unite individuals from different departments, functions, geographies, or backgrounds.

  • Active listening, influencing, and negotiating skills.

  • Ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously, and coach team members.

  • Forward-compatible mindset, with the desire to leverage technology to improve controls and monitoring.

Education

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university in the U.S. or abroad required; master’s degree or MBA preferred.

$163,600.00 - $245,400.00
