BMO Financial Group Associate, Technology & Innovation Banking in New York, New York

BMO Technology & Innovation Banking is a specialized team that provides capital and advice to high-growth technology companies across North America. We are a leader in providing solutions to a variety of technology companies, with sector coverage including enterprise software, consumer software, hardware, and life science businesses, and we focus on all stages of the tech lifecycle, from inception up to and following a liquidity event (i.e. IPO / M&A transaction / etc.).

As an Associate on the Technology & Innovation Banking Team, you will (1) assist a team of Directors in expanding our market share across North America; (2) work closely with a team of Analysts who will support you with credit underwriting as well the as day- to- day management of your portfolio; and (3) be part of a North American team that recognizes that diversity, equity, and inclusion are imperative to building a successful business. Accountabilities include:

  • Building and managing financial models used to assess financial soundness, covenant compliance, SaaS metrics and other technology specific ratios, and structuring debt facilities accordingly.

  • Supporting the senior team in making recommendations regarding deal structure, while balancing risk and client requirements.

  • Leading and performing due diligence and credit analysis of current and prospective clients, including site visits as needed.

  • Performing risk rating calculations to complete risk assessments.

  • Protecting the Bank’s assets and maintaining portfolio quality by managing the timely review of reporting and completing annual borrower financial reviews.

  • Reviewing credit documentation for conformity with approved credit terms and conditions.

  • Working collaboratively with internal teams, including Capital Markets, Wealth Management, and Commercial Banking, to identify new credit and non-credit sales opportunities.

  • Client relationship management, including participating in client calls.

  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of commercial products, processes, and relevant legal, regulatory and technology requirements, through audits and quality checks to ensure decisions are adequately documented, and clearly communicated.

  • Adhering to bank lending processes, policies and procedures, legal and ethical requirements and regulations, audit requirements, and established risk guidelines.

We are looking for individuals who have a deep passion for the technology sector and who have the following attributes and qualifications:

  • Capable analytical skills

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of financial services industry experience (ideally in a corporate lending or investment banking environment)

  • Strong financial modeling capabilities

  • Enthusiasm, and a commitment to succeed in a high- growth business environment

  • A supportive, team-player mentality, and an ability to act as a role model in developing our future talent

  • Exceptional time management and personal planning skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Dedication to customer service, demonstrated by a sense of urgency and ability to meet tight deadlines

Salary:

$87,000.00 - $161,400.00

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
