The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Associate Research Scientist in New York, New York
Oct 16, 2024
The Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University is seeking to hire a Full Time Associate Research Scientist in the Division of Behavioral Medicine. A major goal for this position is to develop and apply mitochondrial science-inspired computational approaches to molecularly phenotype mitochondrial recalibrations (i.e., mitotyping) with high accuracy and sensitivity, and to deploy these new methods to address pressing questions that will help link mitochondrial biology and bioenergetics to the human experience. Existing and forthcoming immune, brain, and other datasets will be used to address these questions, and will involve generating new data from tissue culture experiments, and from ongoing clinical studies such as the MiSBIE and MDEE studies (see www.picardlab.org/research).
The successful candidate will assist the PI in developing the laboratory's computational program by organizing working groups to facilitate crosstalk and productivity within the team, mentor junior members in the technical aspects of their projects, and develop/publish manuscripts contributing to share our expertise with the community, leading the field towards a holistic vision of mitochondrial biology.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent in relevant field.
>3 years of post-PhD experience in developing and managing analytic computational biology pipelines for high-dimensional data including transcriptomics and proteomics datasets, as well as extensive experience working with tissue culture, including co-culture experiments.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in Mitochondrial Psychobiology, cell biology, in handling multiple OMICs datasets (bulk and single-cell RNAseq, proteomics). The candidate must have the ability to collaborate widely with other investigators working on cellular, animal, and human datasets.
