Job Title: Associate Director of the Human Research Protection Program and Director of NYSPI IRB Management Grade: 37Salary: $167,905 - $190,003The Associate Director of the New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI) Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) and the Director of the NYSPI IRB Office will work as part of the larger NYSPI HRPP. The core focus of the incumbent will be to oversee NYSPI’s IRB Reliance program, and build a program for a future convened IRB that includes training of committee members and IRB policy development. The incumbent will direct IRB staff with a focus on reliance activities; provide regulatory guidance to the IRB Chair, members, investigators and Institute leadership; provide support and guidance to investigators in the design and submission of research protocols to external IRBs and NYSPI’s IRB, and oversee the electronic protocol submission and management system. While working with other directors of the HRPP this individual will be responsible for the coordination of education and training to promote the highest standards for the conduct of human subjects research. The chosen candidate must possess excellent organizational, management, and oral and written communication skills.Duties and Responsibilities:The Associate Director will work closely with the Director of NYSPI HRPP to assume responsibility for interpretation and deployment of policies that govern the NYSPI IRB Office. The incumbent will be responsible for designing, establishing, and maintaining the IRB staffing and an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the HRPP program function.The Associate Director will be responsible for the management of IRB analysts and the Director of Reliance. The Director will work closely with IRB chairs and members on restructuring the IRB to ensure that review processes align with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), institutional, state, and federal regulations. This individual will serve as primary regulatory resource for clinicians, sponsors, and study teams in providing guidance on regulatory statuses, approvals, and instructions regarding patient consent.
