POSITION DETAILS

Reporting the Director of Research Administration, the Associate Director will have the following responsibilities:

· Reviewing publications and funding websites for research and dissemination of information and policies on government and private sector grant availability; secures guidelines for application for grants for research and institutional purposes.

· Monitor publications and websites like the Federal Register, NIH Guide, and websites of governmental and private agencies that report funding opportunities.

· Supporting the Director in maintaining contacts with federal, state, local and non-governmental sponsors.

· Advise faculty on the development of grant and contract proposals, including necessary communication with other Hunter College offices and RF-CUNY.

· Advise grant applicants in proposal preparation and budget.

· Coordinate and assist in grant proposal submission.

· Coordinate and assist in grant-writing workshops and trainings for faculty.

· Supervise ORA staff in monitoring and ensuring compliance with research regulations and all aspects of responsible conduct of research.

· Maintain communications with other Hunter units, including Environmental Health and Safety, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, The Human Research Protection Program and helps these units with regulatory matters.

· Coordinate with RF-CUNY on business and human resource functions of our research projects.

· Coordinate with the Director on contract terms, budget and budget revisions as needed in communication with funding agencies.

· Prepare statistical information, analyze funding data and prepare reports as needed by the ORA, the Office of the Provost, Finance, and RF-CUNY.

· Work closely with college leadership to grow and enhance the research infrastructure.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

Ideal candidate will have 10 years of related experience is required. A Ph.D. or administrative higher degree is welcomed.

Equivalent experience assisting, supporting and conducting sponsored research programs.

Experience in contract and grant administration, including pre-award, submission and post award processes.

Applicants with CRA (Certified Research Administrator) designation from the Research Administrators Certification Council are especially welcomed to apply. Applicant must be willing to commit to working towards CRA designation.

Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage administrative operations and use critical thinking skills.

Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships at all levels and in sensitive situations.

Must have experience with legal requirements and issues surrounding intellectual property, access to research results, research ethics and compliance with research and safety regulations.

  • Represents management in meetings and activities related to department administration.

  • Maintains archives, inventories, or collections of materials or records needed by the department.

  • Works with fund-raising, marketing, technology, and other personnel to provide information and participate in Campus or University-wide initiatives.

  • Collect information for, produce, and distribute department reports covering program, fiscal, and human resources issues

  • Independently carries out unit activities such as approvals, student interactions, and participation in campus- or university-wide committees and projects.

Salary commensurate with education and experience, within a range of $96,602 to $107,789.
