The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

With the direction of the Director of Enrollment and support of the Enrollment Team, the Admissions Associate will lead the full admissions process for TSC. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, organizational and technology skills, respect confidentiality and work to understand the needs of families in the school search process. They will work closely with TCS administration, teachers and staff as a collaborative team player for the overall Enrollment work at TSC. The Admissions Associate will also support the high school placement process and alumni work as needed. This is an in-person position on site and will report to the Director of Enrollment.

Responsibilities

Admissions Events:

  • Lead in planning all school-related Admissions events, during the school day and some evenings/weekends, including fairs, open houses, child visits, student revisit days, visits to feeder schools, new student and family orientations, and similar activities.

  • Manage the admissions calendar for the Enrollment Team and supporting admin and staff attending the events.

  • Lead the calendaring of key meetings related to admissions' notifications, re-enrollment, etc.

  • Coordinate visits for prospective families and children K-8.

  • Coordinate information/outreach sessions with key partners that may include feeder schools, community organizations, Columbia University partners and consultants.

Data Management:

  • Input and help maintain admissions data for external and internal purposes.

  • Assist the Director of Enrollment in generating data-driven reports related to recruitment, trends in admission, student retention, and more.

  • Work closely with the database specialist, Enrollment Director, and database vendor to conduct annual rollover.

Financial Aid/Tuition Support:

  • Connect with the billing department on the Financial Aid and Primary Tuition Scholarship processes and deadlines to best communicate with prospective families.

  • Serve as a liaison between the enrollment office and billing office to ensure families have the needed information to apply for financial aid or the Primary Tuition Scholarship benefit.

Enrollment and Re-Enrollment:

  • Annually collaborate with the re-enrollment team to issue enrollment contracts for new and existing families.

  • In partnership with the billing office, work to reconcile outstanding enrollment contracts and deposits and keep records up-to-date.

Communications and Outreach:

  • Work with the Communications Team to send prospective parent newsletters, update admissions pages on the school website and order all promotional, print materials and TSC swag.

  • Attend fairs, visit schools, and work to develop outreach efforts with external partners.

  • Develop relationships with early childhood programs and advocacy programs in NYC.

General Duties:

  • Field phone calls and emails in a timely manner.

  • Assist families with their online applications, supporting documents, and re-enrollment process.

  • Work collaboratively with TSC directors, teachers, and staff for the overall goal of strong enrollment K-8.

  • Pursue professional development opportunities as appropriate to remain current with best practices.

  • Assist the Director of Enrollment with all duties as assigned, including special projects. Special projects may include but are not limited to, high school placement process and alumni outreach and engagement.

  • Provide research and reports as needed.

  • Support student-facing needs that may include but are not limited to, lunch coverage, field trip chaperoning, special school-wide events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in admissions and enrollment at an independent school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Applicants must be able to work collaboratively, maintain confidentiality, and work hard with purpose and joy.

  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills and ability to be an effective public speaker who can relate to different audiences.

  • Ability to multitask, keep calm under pressure working in a busy office.

  • Proficiency with technology including databases, spreadsheets, and online application platforms; ability to learn new technology and systems commensurate with program requirements.

  • Enthusiasm for working with young children and their parents.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and some weekends for admissions' events.

  • Displays curiosity, a positive attitude, flexibility, and a good sense of humor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Spanish or another language is a plus.

  • Knowledge of the latest research and thinking about enrollment management, recruitment and outreach.

  • Familiarity with key technological tools such as Google Workspace, Constant Contact, Canva, and Asana are a plus.

  • Working knowledge of FileMaker and Clarity is a plus.

  • Prior experience working with young children is a plus.
