Job Summary
We are seeking a "hands on" analyst to complement our existing Operational Due Diligence team focused on hedge fund and private credit investments for the Alternatives Solutions Group. The candidate's primary focus will be on initial and ongoing manager due diligence but we also expect contributions to the strengthening of our ODD process, skills and knowledge. The candidate is expected to work collaboratively with the investment and risk management teams at JPMAAM, while at the same time developing independent views on underlying managers regarding operational issues and sustainability practices. The candidate is expected to lead or take part in selected projects aimed at ensuring our ODD practices and knowledge remain cutting edge and are communicated to our clients as such.
Job Responsibilities
Performing and leading on-site manager visits to evaluate hedge funds' and private credit operational risks including but not limited to infrastructure, 3 rd party service providers and administrators, financial operations, legal & compliance, staffing, financing/counterparty arrangements and information technology/cybersecurity
Helping drive the firm's perspective on hedge fund and private credit operational risk issues and the effect of these on the underlying managers and portfolios
Working closely with the Research, Marketing, Risk and other internal JPMAAM groups.
Representing the JP Morgan to existing and prospective clients as well as other outside audiences
Preparing written analysis/research for internal use
Presenting such research at internal Investment Committee meetings and educational sessions
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
10+ years industry experience with 5+ years' experience in an ODD role at a hedge fund/private credit investment or advisory organization
Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution
Ability to apply knowledge/experience to a wide variety of alternative investment managers and operating environments to assess operational risks and relevant ESG factors and to identify potential concerns
Knowledge of the global capital markets and factors driving those markets
Demonstrated aptitude for and experience in external client relations, including communicating with sophisticated investors both one-on-one and in large group settings.
A thought leader and a "partner" at heart, natural focus is on adding value and not "checking boxes"
Confidence and poise to interview hedge fund/private credit managers (typically senior level non-investment staff - COO, CFO, Head of Ops, CCO) and develop and maintain strong relationships inside and outside the firm, including service providers, Prime Broker consulting teams and members of industry peer groups
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
Prior experience in hedge fund/private credit administration, operations, accounting, bank hedge fund credit, or audit is desired
Concentration in Accounting/Finance preferred
MBA, CPA, JD and/or CFA a plus
Prior people management experience a plus
