Job Title: Arborist

Job Description

Join our dedicated team as an Arborist to work on an essential Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) project in collaboration with the Parks Department. In this role, you will assess the health of trees and oversee the treatment of tree pests, particularly the beetles threatening trees in NYC. Your responsibilities will include construction oversight, tree inspection, daily reporting, and contractor management for various services including emerald ash borer treatment, block pruning, emergency storm work, and stump inspections. This position requires daily interaction and coordination with contractors using the city's FORMS System. The role follows a seasonal work pattern, full-time through October, slowing down in winter, and resuming full-time around March.

Must Haves

  • 1+ year experience on forestry related projects

  • Personal vehicles

  • ISA certification for NY or the ISA equivalent for New Jersey

Soft Skills

  • Great communication

  • Strong writing skills

Job Type

This is a long-term contract position with a duration of a minimum of 2 Years.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Brooklyn and Staten Island.

Work Environment

This is a 100 percent field-based role requiring travel to 20-40 sites per day.
