Appraisal Specialist: 7 full-time, temporary, peak load (H-2B) jobs available 10/01/2024-04/30/2025

Employer: Effy & Co. Inc, 7 West 45th Street, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10036.

Duties: Identify and measure various gemstones; examine gems to ensure accuracy of angle and positions of cuts; inspect all stones to determine they are genuine per gemological standards; assess gems and jewelry for proper hallmarks and karat stamps; photograph jewelry to document for inventory control and appraisals purposes; assist in preparing customer appraisals including evaluating jewelry, researching replacement pricing, and documenting official appraisal.

Work Hours and days vary: $29.42hrlyOvertime available at $44.13hourly40 hours per week. 8:00AM to 9:00PM, up to 6 days/week, 40hrs/week minimum and up to 32 hrs/week overtime.

High School education required. 2 years experience required. Graduate Gemologist required.

A single workweek will be used to compute wages due. Workers will be paid bi-weekly on Friday. The pay will be up to and including the 14th day (no lag allowed) All deductions from the workers paycheck required by law will be made.

Employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.

H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees).

Transportation (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if the worker completes half the employment period. Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. Daily subsistence rates are $15.88 a day without receipts or up to $59/day with receipts.
