Since 2003, Alvarez & Marsal Public Sector Services (PSS) has helped government, education, and non-profit clients identify new ways to overcome challenges and implement sustainable change - pioneering a progressive, pragmatic, and forward-looking approach based on our experience applying operational and financial improvement principles in the private sector to address the unique challenges facing public sector organizations. Working directly with leadership, PSS helps stabilize financial and operational performance by developing and implementing comprehensive efficiency, operational, and organizational improvements.

Our Public Sector professionals:

• Improve public services, expanding and improving the constituent experience
• Manage crises, stabilizing and transforming government agencies
• Support financial management and innovation, enabling agencies to make critical investments
• Identify and implement operational improvements, modernizing and streamlining operations
• Guide transformation and innovation initiatives to unlock opportunities for improved constituent services at lower cost

Qualifications

A& M PSS is seeking full-time applicants for a Summer 2025 Summer Associate Program (Graduate Intern) based in Washington, DC and Seattle, WA.

• Required: Currently working toward graduate degree with the intention to graduate Winter 2025 or Spring 2026; Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Policy preferred
• 3 years of total work experience; prior full-time or internship work experience in financial management, government operations, and/or consulting not required, but considered a plus
• Demonstrates academic excellence
• Demonstrated proficiency with most or all of the following:
  • Possess excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Extract useful information from large sets of unorganized or incomplete data
  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal form
  • Use Excel and other MS Office programs as the primary tool to perform analysis and present conclusions
  • Able to contextualize tasks within a baseline understanding of macro issues concerning K-12 education, higher education, workforce development, state & local governance, and/or health services.
  • Able to demonstrate thoughtfulness, objectivity, professionalism, and empathy in all aspects of work
  • Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Willing to travel up to 80%

The hourly range is $45.00 to $55.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
