Amazon Senior Privacy Specialist, Amazon Privacy Regulatory Compliance and Operations in New York City, New York

An opportunity to join a growing Privacy Regulatory Compliance and Operations team, this person will play a critical role as we continue to innovate customer-obsessed solutions to address ever-expanding global privacy requirements. We are seeking an experienced privacy subject matter expert to join as Senior Privacy Specialist to support key, global privacy initiatives, with a specific focus on the North America region privacy requirements and risks associated with sensitive personal data. Applicants should have a broad understanding of global privacy laws and emerging trends.

Key job responsibilities

• Acting as member of team of experts on privacy compliance who support global initiatives across Amazon.

• Applying a working knowledge of global data privacy requirements and regulatory and industry frameworks to develop compliance strategies to address emerging requirements.

• Diving deep into existing Amazon privacy frameworks and building upon these to address new and emerging privacy requirements.

• Articulating compliance implications to relevant teams.

• Leading compliance and privacy related initiatives to drive adoption of new policies, and frameworks. May include emerging requirements for artificial intelligence.

• Influencing product roadmap prioritization and advising senior leadership on privacy compliance risks.

• Driving process improvement and control implementation projects in coordination with compliance assurance team. This may include the resolution of audit findings and the execution of projects originated from internal assessments.

• Leading projects to implement standards, tools, and processes supporting privacy.

A day in the life

You will work to ensure that our products are designed, operated, maintained to protect customer trust. You will lead high-impact, cross-team Privacy-oriented initiatives across Amazon. You will work with product and engineering teams from initiation to deployment, will be responsible for privacy compliance, interfacing with Legal, technical teams, Public Policy, and external groups. You will drive programs to achieve compliance with new and emerging privacy regulation and maintain compliance with global privacy requirements.

You will work independently to identify risks and act as a thought leader who recommends and leads risk mitigation strategies. You will prioritize work in a fast-paced environment supporting initiatives related to new requirements focused on protecting sensitive personal data and new comprehensive privacy laws.

Basic Qualifications

7+ years of experience in global privacy compliance roles.

· Prior experience supporting and/or operationalizing US comprehensive privacy laws, US laws regulating sensitive personal data, GDPR.

· Experience working in tech orgs; AdTech experience a plus.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong knowledge of risk management methods and industry best practices.

· Ability to understand complex business processes and technologies.

· Analytical decision making with a demonstrated ability problem solve, make decisions in complex situations and drive issues to completion.

· Proven history of having worked effectively across cross-functional teams and business functions to drive positive change.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in data privacy in a highly technical environment.

· Experience leading major compliance efforts across complex organization.

· Record of delivery of privacy process improvement projects with technology processes and/or major tech companies.

· Relevant Privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP-US, CIPP-EU, CIPM)

· Experience evaluating the design and effectiveness of privacy controls.

· Experience in working directly with auditors for compliance assessments.

· Familiarity with industry privacy self-regulatory frameworks.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
