The College of Staten Island (CSI), City University of New York (CUNY), Office of Workforce Development & Innovation (Workforce Development) has partnered with New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to offer HVAC Technician Training. Students will simultaneously attend virtual classroom lessons and labs coupled with an on-the-job training via internship with employer-partners. Program completion includes 30-hour OSHA training and two nationally recognized certifications: EPA-608 Certification and NATE Ready-to-Work Certificate.

The HVAC Instructor will be responsible for designing and implementing learning programs and materials and provide quality training to students enrolled in the HVAC Training Program at the College of Staten Island.

Other Duties

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Lead all classroom and practical training opportunities for HVAC Program

  • Design and develop learning materials for trainees. Training modules to cover include: Heating, Cooling, Heat Pumps, Refrigeration and Green Technologies

  • Instructor will prepare students to take and pass two certification exams and complete an additional training course; OSHA 30 and EPA 608 Certification and the North American Technician Excellence (NATE) Ready to Work Certificate

  • Develop and implement testing and assessment procedures to evaluate training program effectiveness

  • Manage LMS system to ensure completion of modules/tasks assigned to students

  • Able to teach a diverse group of students with various educational backgrounds and work experiences

  • Ability to incorporate various instructional tools in teaching delivery that will meet different learning styles

  • Able to teach an adult population ranging from young adult to older adult population

  • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 3+Years in the HVAC Service industry

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Must have basic computer skills, including knowledge of Zoom

  • High school diploma or GED

  • OSHA, EPA 608, and NATE Certified

  • Ability to teach virtually

  • Learning Management System experience

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) was established as a not-for-profit educational corporation chartered by the State of New York in 1963.
