Purpose : The Associate Director in Financial Sponsor & Fund Finance Corporate Banking will play a critical role in managing and expanding the Bank’s fund finance portfolio. The Associate Director will be responsible for originating, structuring and executing complex fund finance transactions and managing client relationships, as well as contribute to the overall success of the team. The position requires a deep understanding of fund finance products, strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Transaction Management

  • Support Director in the origination, structuring and overview the execution of fund finance transactions including subscription lines, hybrid facilities, BDC revolvers, and other fund finance products.

  • Conduct thorough due diligence, financial analysis, and risk assessment for proposed transactions

  • Prepare deal related memos and coordinate credit applications throughout the whole cycle of the transaction

  • Client Relationship Management

  • Actively support the Director on mandates for key clients as well as coordinate with other areas of Scotiabank to deliver multi-product pitches and offerings

  • Coordinate with the various product groups and industry team within GBM and Capital Markets to deliver solutions that Scotiabank can provide across its footprint and generate revenue

  • Develop and maintain effective industry relationships with existing and prospect clients

  • Team Leadership

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the Origination and Execution team

  • Actively partner with the broader team to build team dynamics and engagement across teams

  • Assist in resource management and prioritization of work to effectively and efficiently manage team’s time and resources

  • Market and Industry Analysis

  • Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes and industry developments affecting the fund finance sector

  • Support Director in formulating strategy recommendation to senior management on market opportunities and risks

  • Regulatory and Compliance

  • Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to address any regulatory concerns

  • Ensure all transactions comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements and industry best practices

  • Ensure the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct & compliance, operation and conduct risks and AML/ATF/sanctions.

What You’ll Bring

  • 6+ years’ work experience in Fund Finance or Corporate Banking in general

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field. An MBA or CFA is preferred

  • Strong understanding of fund finance products and structures

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills

  • Proven track record in client relationship management and business development

  • A high level of attention to detail

  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work

  • The ability to excel under pressure amid demanding deadlines

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

  • High professional standards including a strong sense of personal integrity and teamwork

  • A high level of energy and a keen desire to learn new concepts

  • Independent thinker and proven ability to make decisions

  • Obtain and maintain required FINRA registration and licensing appropriate to your functions and responsibilities
