The weekend shift CNC Machinist II is a part-time role that is responsible for performing various types of machining set-up and operations to ensure the machine shop meets daily production and quality goals.

This position is part of the Pall Aerospace Machine Shop and will be located onsite in New Port Richey, FL. The work schedule is Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM. This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status, or U.S. Government export authorization is required. Any offer of employment is contingent upon Pall obtaining the necessary employment visa and export authorization, including, if required, an export license from the applicable U.S. government agency.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Set-up and operate CNC Mills and/or Lathes including the selection of tools, holding fixtures, and methods for producing machined parts, and change worn tooling. Read and interpret CNC programs to recognize and make changes to rectify excessive tool wear and minor program oversights. Change off-sets as necessary to maintain quality and deburr parts during the machine cycle.

  • Perform first piece and in-process inspection using precision measuring tools (gauges and automated CMMs) and blueprints. Read and understand all types of drawings required to machine parts such as castings, forgings, and detailed engineering sketches. Complete all necessary paperwork as required including scorecards, hazard recognitions, routers and data, Red Tags, etc.

  • Maintain an acceptable production rate based on pre-established standards and produce products that meet all quality and drawing requirements. Perform secondary operations (i.e., set-up and operation on simple machines or processes including drill press, stamping press, deburring, etc.). Identify new ways to machine parts to improve quality and productivity. Assist in training co-workers.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED) and three (3) years of CNC set-up experience or completion of a machining apprenticeship program.

  • Fluent in blueprint reading or successfully complete blueprint training onsite.

  • Work overtime as required. Frequent bending, lifting and standing for extended periods of time; frequent lifting up to 20 lbs. from floor to bench; occasional lifting to 35 lbs. Good eye and hand dexterity.

Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Frequent lifting up to 35 pounds. Lift up to 50 pounds with assistance. Lifting frequency: Daily. Able to load parts using hand tools. Stand for long time periods (for a minimum of 9 hours or more); frequently twist and bend.

  • Pass basic eye test. Good eye and hand dexterity.

  • Be able to work with solvents, oils, and other chemicals.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Knowledge of at least 3 axis machining and above

  • CNC Machining in aerospace manufacturing

  • Quality measures, AQL levels and inspection methods.
