Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the supervisory level or above:

Eight years of social services experience; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus five years of social services experience; OR

A bachelor's degree plus five years of social services experience; OR

An advanced degree plus four years of social services experience.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

To serve as assistant administrator for a region of the state.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

A Medicaid Assistant Regional Administrator typically reports to a Medicaid Regional Administrator.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Subordinate staff typically includes Medicaid Area Managers. May supervise lower level personnel.

LOCATION OF WORK:

Department of Health and Hospitals, Medical Vendor Administration.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:

Differs from Medicaid Area Manager 2 by the presence of responsibility for assisting with regional administration of Medicaid eligibility activities.

Differs from Medicaid Regional Administrator by the absence of overall responsibility for Medicaid eligibility activities in a region.

Examples of Work

Directs aspects of the regional execution of Medicaid eligibility programs with broad guidance and consultation from a regional administrator by establishing priorities, evaluating efficiency, quality, and compliance with federal and state regulations, and taking corrective action as necessary. Assists with the determination and/or preparation of regional annual budget requests, oversight of fiscal matters, and physical plant management for a regional facility and all local branch units within a region. May act as regional administrator when called upon to do so and/or in emergency situations.
