WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER The Conservation Impact Data Scientist and Manager provides analytical and data management support and leadership as a subject matter resource (SMR) for the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Program. The MEL Program is part of the Conservation Impact System Team in the Chief Conservation Office. The Conservation Impact System Team provides conservation resources and tools to help conservation teams learn and adapt faster. WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU The Conservation Impact Data Scientist and Manager conducts analyses and advances data quality to support adaptive management and organizational reporting and learning. They may lead a program or project related to monitoring, evaluation, and learning, data quality, and adaptive management. They collaborate with other practitioners, scientists, data specialists, and institutions to enhance TNC's practices.RESPONSIBILITIES and SCOPE Support program objectives by working in a complex matrix organization environment. May participate and/or lead a cross functional team. May manage a grant, contract, or write a request for proposal. Interpret guidelines, evaluate information and modify processes to adapt to changing circumstances for the program. Provide a variety of information to staff and others, contributing to conservation projects and ensuring workflow. Provide training for internal and external colleagues that support planning, measuring, and adapting. WHAT YOU'LL BRING Master's degree in science or data governance related field and 4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience manipulating, analyzing and interpreting conservation data. Experience managing a conservation database and developing or implementing data governance processes. Experience producing analyses for high impact presentations, reports, or peer reviewed publications. Experience leading or participating on cross functional teams. Experience managing complex projects including the financial aspect and coordinating the work of peers and partners. Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people. Experience engaging diverse stakeholders, resolving conflict, and codeveloping processes. Experience using R, PowerBI, and ArcGIS to analyze data and produce graphs, maps, or dashboards that support decisions. Attention to detail.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Multi-language skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated. Experience delivering and reporting on grant objectives. PhD and 1-3 years of experience. Certifying, verifying, or characterizing confidence in data. Capacity building and training experience. SALARY INFORMATION This position may be based in any country where TNC has an established entity, taking into consideration legal restrictions, such as non-national ratios and immigration processing times. For U.S. based applicants only, the starting pay range for this position is generally within the range of $76,200 to $117,100 for annual base salary and is based on location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. For all other applicants, pay ranges will be in local currency, the pay range will be based on the local labor market, and not tied to the above pay range. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment and used to determine your actual pay range. Additionally, for all applicants, actual pay will fall within a range based on a variety of factors including, for example, the candidate's qualifications, specific skills, and experience.
