Functional Area Manager Your tasks Position Summary The Functional Area Team Manager will be lead a team of engineers and technicians who specialize in one or more of the following functional transportation areas: Vibration, Environmental, High Voltage Battery Cycling, High Voltage battery Safety and Abuse, & Corrosion / Erosion Testing, Material science/Post test inspection. This role will require daily interaction between Program Managers and the test laboratory management and staff. The Functional Area Team Manager will report to the Laboratory Manager. This position will develop and drive processes, efficiency, and culture into the lab to ensure customers receive world-class testing, communication and experience. Responsibilities: Team leader responsible for day-to-day operations of the associated functional area of ownership (prioritization, HRM, performance reviews, interviewing, assigning work, etc.) Collaborate with other Functional Area Team Manager and Business Line leaders to ensure the lab is appropriately staffed and equipped to meet business needs and forecasted growth plans. Support the hiring, training, growth and development of the technicians and engineers. Liaison for test programs within functional area of ownership: Coordination with program management to execute tests safely, on-time, and with quality. Develop processes that ensure efficient operations to maximize equipment utilization. Maintain schedule for equipment within functional area. Provide technical support to Account Managers and Program Managers Work with fellow Functional Area Managers to appropriately schedule personnel and equipment for incoming testing. Backfill low staff/high priority areas with hands on test setup/test execution duties. Communicate and support test issues. Ensure project safety, quality, timing, and budgets are maintained. Review technical reports and sign-off for approval. Maintain confidentiality of customers, products tested and appropriate internal information. Keep abreast of present and future product requirements, test procedures, instrumentation, technology and engineering service capabilities by internal training sessions, external seminars and reading of technical articles. Follow any other instructions and perform any other related duties as may be required Your qualifications Education and experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical), or equivalent experience Minimum 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience, including development of individuals and teams. Minimum 5 years of test lab experience, including development/validation/ISO17025 accreditation. Minimum of 5 years direct experience working with automotive customers; other transportation industries a plus (medium/heavy truck, off-road, construction, agriculture, marine, aero, etc.). Preferably 3-5 years' experience working with HV battery testing and/or development Specific skills, knowledge and abilities: Well-versed in the technical/engineering details of development and validation test plans, testing operations, equipment and facilities. Demonstrated ability to manage lab operations to drive revenue and satisfy customer deliverables. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience. Aggressive attitude toward growth and continuous improvement. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Self-starter with a positive outlook and motivated attitude.
