Thames Valley Council for Community Action Program Manager Senior Volunteer Services in New London, Connecticut

JOB SUMMARY:

Program Manager for the Senior Volunteer Services Program (AmeriCorps Seniors) will be primarily responsible for managing the volunteer program including the 7 veteran coffeehouses with administrative tasks including community outreach, report gathering, data collection, and monitoring volunteers and clients with support and resources.

The Program Manager will also support the Senior Volunteer Services Director (SVS) and be responsible for recruitment, training and placement of 55 and older individuals in volunteer positions throughout New London County as well as meet with new participants to perform intake assessments. The Program Manager will assist the SVS Director with program promotion and development in new regions and data compilation for all grants. The Program Manager must have excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task between administrative tasks, volunteer enrollment, client intakes, and community outreach. The Program Manager should have an understanding of and compassion for the needs of older volunteers, veterans, and individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds. The Program Manager will learn, implement, and follow all agency and program policies and procedures and act as a liaison between volunteers, station staff, participants, and administration.

Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, or related field, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office required.

  • Accountable for time management and ownership of job responsibilities.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, access to reliable, insured transportation.

  • Sense of humor and respect for all staff.
