Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Driver License Examiner with CDL (New Kensington) in New Kensington, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4549276 THE POSITION Are you looking for an exciting opportunity in the Department of Transportation? We have a fantastic opening for a Driver License Examiner! In this role, you will play a crucial part in evaluating the knowledge and skills of both non-commercial and Commercial Driver License (CDL) applicants. Your expertise will be utilized to conduct standardized examinations, ensuring that only the most competent individuals receive their driver's licenses. If you are ready to make a difference and contribute to road safety, do not hesitate to apply today! DESCRIPTION OF WORK As part of this role, you will be responsible for assessing the physical conditions and driving qualifications of applicants, as well as evaluating the mechanical condition of vehicles. This will involve following established guidelines and standards to ensure compliance and safety.

Before conducting the driving tests, you will need to perform pre-trip inspections on the vehicles. This includes checking for inspection stickers, lights, windshield wipers, and other mechanical features to ensure that they are in proper working order. This is crucial to ensure the safety of both the applicant and other road users, as well as to assess the applicant's familiarity with the vehicle controls.

Another important aspect of this position is examining applications, registrations, and permits for any signs of irregularities or potential fraud. This is done to maintain the integrity of the licensing process and ensure that only qualified individuals are granted driving privileges.

You will also be responsible for administering both the CDL and Non-CDL knowledge examinations. These tests assess the applicant's understanding of the motor vehicle code and traffic signs. Additionally, you will evaluate the applicant's practical demonstration of motor vehicle operation and their adherence to the rules of the road.

At times, you may be required to conduct audits of Third Party Examiners to ensure contract compliance. This may involve having the Third Party Examiner administer a CDL skills test to a Department Examiner in a representative vehicle, or scoring alongside the Third Party Examiner while they administer a CDL skills test to an applicant. This helps to maintain the quality and consistency of the examination process.

In addition, you will be responsible for administering various vision tests, such as telebinocular and color perception tests. These tests are important for assessing an applicant's visual acuity and ensuring that they meet the necessary requirements for safe driving.

Finally, it is essential that you strictly adhere to all aspects of the Driver and Vehicle Services Customer Service Policy. This policy outlines the standards and expectations for providing excellent customer service to all individuals interacting with the Driver License Division.
