Transaction Management Trade Closers are responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely settlement of loan trades in the primary and secondary market. Trade closing involves coordinating with various internal teams, external counterparties, and legal counsel to ensure that all loan transactions are closed in compliance with company policies, credit agreement terms, and contractual agreements. The Trade Closer plays a critical role in mitigating risk and ensuring the smooth execution of loan trades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the closing of loan trades by coordinating with the trading desk, sales team, trade counterparties, agents, and various operations teams.

  • Draft, review, and verify trade documentation, including trade tickets, trade confirmations, assignment agreements, participation agreements, netting agreements, and other supporting documentation.

  • Prepare and review complex funding flows for each trade closing including but not limited to pricing, delayed compensation, cost of carry, benefit of commitment reduction (BCR) and assignment fees.

  • Collaborate with the trading and sales teams daily to identify trades to close on a priority basis to improve profitability.

  • Ensure that all necessary approvals and documentations are obtained prior to closing.

  • Confirm and reconcile trade details with the trading desk, sales team, and external clients to ensure accuracy and to mitigate any financial impact.

  • Identify any amendments to the loan facility during the closing process and ensure those changes are applied pro-rata to any unsettled trades.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external clients to resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise during the closing process.

  • Provide regular updates to management on the status of ongoing loan trade transactions and escalate when necessary.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the loan trade closing process.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy

  • Apply sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

  • Handle the closing of more complex loan trades such as trades on revolving credits, letters of credit, restructures and manual documentation.

  • Meet higher management expectations for performance indicators, such as volume of trade closing, average settlement time, error rate, and turnover rate of trade portfolio.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the broader team by assisting junior team members with questions and issues as they arise.

  • Sign legal trade documents for Citi entities as an “Attorney-in-fact” correctly and without error.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years relevant experience

  • Established knowledge of Broadly Syndicated Loans (BSLs) and the loan trading business, including an understanding of legal loan documentation, loan mechanics, deal structure, and funds flows.

  • Ability to work with clients under time constraints to facilitate a transaction or process.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, Senior management, and other business constituents.

  • Critical decision-making capabilities including the ability to identify, escalate, and propose solutions to problems.

  • Ability to multi-task through the practice of strong organizational and time management skills with experience in continuously following-up with various stakeholders.

  • Understanding of the operational processes supporting BSLs.

  • Ability to meet and exceed key operating standards within a KPI/metrics driven culture.

  • Ability to work in an environment where priorities are frequently changing.

  • Individual must have excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Individual must work well under tight deadlines, manage priorities and complete assigned tasks with minimal management follow up.

Education:

  • Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$61,870.00 - $86,330.00
