Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
In lieu of Associate’s degree, a high school diploma or GED and two (2) years’ experience performing inspection, testing, and evaluation of work
Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years maintenance experience or experience performing inspection, testing, and evaluation of work
Certification/Licensure
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's permit issued from jurisdiction of residence
Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) Qualification acquired within six (6) months of job start date

Incumbents in this role may be required to report to or continue to work in the event of authorized office closings or service suspensions due to severe weather, natural disaster, fire, operational emergencies or related events.
Job Summary
The Maintenance Coordinator, Quality Assurance is highly skilled technical quality assurance inspection work of a complex nature involving inspection of work performed by Authority personnel and contractors for workmanship, completeness in progress, and at completion, for compliance with drawings, specifications, layouts and standard maintenance procedures. The incumbent is responsible for the oversite of contracts and BPA’s, and ensures the Authority follows jurisdictional regulations. The incumbent performs inspections, conducts investigations, and prepares reports to document findings and oversees best maintenance practices on various systems. The Maintenance Coordinator, Quality Assurance further coordinates and monitors the contractor’s equipment and systems, procedures, and job requirements to fulfill a requirement. The employee's responsibilities include validating contractor’s quality of work and invoicing, reviewing work for technical adequacy, compliance with policies and procedures, ability to identify and define problems accurately and ensuring best maintenance practices are followed.
Essential Functions
Complies with Authority and safety rules, operating rules, and testing procedures. Attends and passes the required training classes and continuously learns best practices for working safely and efficiently. Performs assignments and ensures subordinates perform assignments according to established safety practices and maintenance guidelines. Initiates, manages, and oversees contracts and contractors. Modifies and exercises options of existing contracts in a timely manner and ensures contracts are within budget.
Observes, directs, and evaluates the performance of equipment and services provided by contractors against established contracts, standards, policies, and procedures. Schedules, and monitors the inspections of Authority maintenance and repair work in major facilities of complex contract projects to assure compliance to specifications. Conducts and responds to investigations, inspections, and tests of parts, materials, assemblies, and equipment performance for adherence to established quality assurance and safety standards utilizing complex testing methods, equipment, and procedures; interprets test procedures and results. Reviews drawings and schematics for accuracy and completeness; accurately interprets diagnostic/repair manuals.
Provides technical direction to contractors and WMATA employees.
Maintains accurate and current contract/inspection records. Perform follow-up actions to ensure deficiencies noted are corrected in a timely and effective manner and within jurisdictional regulations. deficiencies, recommendations, and corrective actions. Recommends, where necessary, modifications to existing testing procedures, equipment configurations, and work methods to improve the overall efficiency and safety of the organizational component.
Supports response efforts in emergencies by providing immediate maintenance support to protect assets. Responds to and provides assistance during severe weather emergencies.
