Assistant Vice President, Ambulatory Operations - Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital
Job Overview:
In conjunction with Operations Leadership, the Assistant Vice president (AVP) will provide oversight in developing, managing, strategizing, and implementing various programs to support the Ambulatory footprint of the RWJUH campus and RWJBH system mission. The AVP will support the leaders of ambulatory areas, both with RWJBH and Rutgers Faculty Practices, in order to deliver safe and efficient care. The AVP will focus on improving employee engagement, patient experience, quality, financial stewardship, and operational efficiencies.
Qualifications:
Master s degree in business, healthcare administration, or public health administration required
Minimum of ten (10) years of leadership or operational experience related to healthcare industry required. Strong health system background preferred
Strong leadership skills to motivate teams, set goals, and drive results
Strategic mindset to contribute to the development and execution of business strategies
Ability to rapidly respond and adapt in environmental circumstances and system priorities
Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving, and analytical skills required
Understand financial principles to ensure efficiencies in all areas
Ability to work closely in multidisciplinary teams
Strong decision-making ability proven track record of results
Conflict resolution and facilitation comfortable in various types of team dynamics and change management
Creative and critical thinking to develop solutions to complex issues and processes
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
Ethical judgement and high integrity when facing unique situations
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Essential Functions:
Planning and Designing Services
Supports the RWJBH System s overall mission and vision
Establishes and integrates standards of care and practice in all areas of responsibility
Takes a leadership role in the development of patient care programs, policies, and procedures that are focused on best in-class patient care
Participates in the development and implementation of the plan for providing care to the community
Gathers, assesses, and acts on information regarding patient satisfaction
Works with members of the leadership team to develop and implement organizational strategy while achieving financial efficiencies
Improving Performance
Participates with leaders from the governing body, senior leadership, clinical leadership in planning, promoting, and conducting division-wide performance improvement activities
Responsible for implementing an effective and ongoing program to monitor, evaluate, and improve the quality of care delivered to patients for the areas of oversight
Continuously assess and improve the division s performance
Ensure that services are paid for in a cost-effective way
Establish improvement activity aimed at ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations and accrediting organizations
Business
Responsible for coordinating all business operations, including financial activities for the effective management and operations of ambulatory areas on the RWJUH campus
In conjunction with the Vice President, the AVP will lead the development of new business to maximize revenue opportunities to sustain and build the programs
Interact with and maintain collaborative relationships with regional and national leaders to identify, evaluate, and pursue potential business relationships
Oversee the development, direction, and coordination of the clinical and business operations to provide management and leadership to staff
Engage in strategic planning for associated programs and departments
Develop methodologies to standardize workflows in HOPD clinical departments to drive throughput, access, and patient experience across all ambulatory departments
Hospital Community and External Affairs
Serve as a key member of the leadership team and will attend the meetings of the Joint Management council and Operations committee on a regular basis
Work closely with the executive and senior leadership team in broader areas of planning and development
Develop personal and professional credibility, gain respect and built trust both internally and externally
Build a positive and trusting relationship with the clinical team physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals
Be a leader in assessing the current state of ambulatory revenue cycle to determine potential opportunities for improvement
