The Medical Records Coordinator appropriately and accurately performs administrative duties to verify, organize, maintain and analyze clinical records and other documents for patients receiving supplies from Atos Medical. This position qualifies records to support medical necessity for supplies, contacts provider offices to secure missing clinical records and files records in the proper patient account. The Medical Records Coordinator reviews records for completeness and accuracy and ensures all documents are electronically signed. This role will support other departments who require medical records to service our patients. The Medical Records Coordinator will adhere to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability and 42 CF Part 2 regulations and all applicable state, federal and local laws pertaining to the maintenance and release of medical records. Main job responsibilities: Appropriately and accurately requests pertinent and relevant records for patient care, quality review and audits in a timely manner. Uploads all received documents into the patient\'s electronic health record. Review each medical record for appropriate diagnosis, documentation of medical necessity and electronic signature from the prescribing provider. Facilitates the correction of deficient documentation. Observe confidentiality and safeguard all patient related information. Responsible for coordinating the release of medical information to insurance companies, attorney\'s, state and federal agencies upon request. Notify the requester when records are available. Identify and report errors and quality deficiencies to manager. Maintain customer records by entering information accurately and completely. Maintain a good working relationship within the department and other departments. Adhere to company requirements, policies and standards.
