Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - ANSYSJob Description
In this role, you will be responsible for performing mechanical calculations and verifying the accuracy of design data using ANSYS and MATHCAD. The primary focus is on calculating forces and stresses, ensuring that designs meet customer and industry standard requirements through precise hand calculations. This position requires the ability to work independently, validate designs, and check the work of other team members.
Responsibilities
Validate that designs meet customer requirements and industry standards through detailed calculations.
Check the work of team members, including inputs, equations, and assumptions.
Document calculations and share them with customers, ensuring the documents are readable and understandable.
Respond to customer feedback on calculations and documentation.
Collaborate with the mechanical design team to confirm assumptions and recommend improvements to designs.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years of mechanical engineering experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience using ANSYS.
Minimum of 3 years of experience reading mechanical drawings and spec sheets.
Understanding of industry standards.
Ability to draw free body diagrams and analyze forces.
Experience performing mechanical shaft calculations and equations to support the selection of components like motors, gearboxes, ropes, pulleys, and bearings.
Minimum of 3 years of seismic analysis experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in MATHCAD.
Experience in structural engineering.
Ability to document calculations clearly and respond to customer feedback.
Work Environment
This role is based in the structural department of the Nuclear division. The focus is on performing calculations rather than design work. You will need to document calculations and share them with customers, ensuring they are understandable and responding to feedback. You will also collaborate with the mechanical design team to confirm assumptions and make recommendations. There are plenty of example calculations available to help you get started.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $50.00/hr.
