The Position

Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This opening is for a Social Services Program Specialist I within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) Provider Enrollment Unit, in Carson City, NV. Under direction from a Social Services Program Specialist III, this position oversees essential Provider Enrollment functions. This position assists Nevada Medicaid's Fiscal Agent with the review, approval and/or denial of Provider Enrollment applications, revalidations and changes. The position oversees the Fingerprint-based Criminal Background Check (FCBC) and site visit processes, which may include conducting site visits when necessary.

The position receives, reviews, and assists in the resolution of applicant/provider issues and complaints pertaining to provider enrollment. The position is responsible for the Change of Ownership (CHOW) and professional expired license processes. The incumbent must have the necessary skills, knowledge, and ability to research federal and state regulations to ensure program integrity. The incumbent must be able to accurately apply the research findings and interpretation to make enrollment eligibility determinations while ensuring program integrity. The incumbent must communicate information in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in written correspondence to managers, administrators, Fiscal Agent representatives, providers, and sister agencies. The incumbent must maintain current desk processes and procedures, prepare accurate statistical reports, and conduct outreach trainings and presentations as necessary. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of paraprofessional experience which included providing social services, medical assistance programs services, or health care services to the public and required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR two years of experience as a Family Services Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
