The Position

Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is currently recruiting for a full time Social Services Program Specialist 1 position in Carson City, NV. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following programs: Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) and Planning Advocacy and Community (PAC).

Incumbents conduct Participant Experience Surveys (PES), case file reviews, understanding and interpreting state, local and federal policy, aid in making policy and program recommendations based on data analysis, assist in revising and maintaining specific procedures and manuals, meeting deadlines, producing reports on a regular basis, assisting with and providing training and coordination of program training sessions, support in the development of spreadsheets to facilitate data analysis, aid in conducting provider reviews and recipient interviews, working with external stake holders such as sister agencies, individuals receiving services and providers for the betterment of the program and maintain quality, participate in work groups and performing related duties as assigned. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of paraprofessional experience which included providing social services, medical assistance programs services, or health care services to the public and required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR two years of experience as a Family Services Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
