The Position

Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for an IT Technician IV located in Carson City or Reno, NV. This role serves on the Division's Help Desk as a Tier 1 agent for all program areas. The incumbent will be responsible for managing help desk tickets that are created from phone calls or email messages from end-users for troubleshooting and resolving application or compute issues, remediation of web pages or associated web page documents, assisting with user account, access permission, PC, printing, or other application/computing problems. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, three years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR (for positions in the Network Operations & Support specialty ONLY) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of IT work experience in the upgrade or replacement of software and hardware components on networked workstations; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

This position is subject to call-out or call-back. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.

Additional Position Criteria

This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
