Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA has an open position and is looking for qualified candidates for an Senior Technologist/Senior Advisor. The job location is at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head, MD.

Scope of Performance: Perform project engineering duties to include: preparation of cost proposals, planning project execution, providing technical oversight, preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring quality requirements are met, developing engineering solutions to problems, preparing specifications, and communicating project results to management and other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering expertise in the mixing, casting, extrusion, and machining of propellants and explosives

• Lead environmental assessments of explosive waste disposal, equipment/facility decontamination, and manufacturing requirements.

• Assess functionality of fire and lightning protection systems in energetics and explosives manufacturing facilities

• Prepare and review process documentation for manufacturing operations

• Conduct analytical studies of manufacturing processes, methods, facilities and equipment for the preparation of various hazards analyses

• Lead malfunction and incident investigations, including application of root cause analyses (RCAs), fault tree analyses (FTAs), and failure modes and effects analyses (FMEAs)

• Develop process review board (PRB) and safety review committee (SRC) documentation packages, and facilitate associated meetings

Education and Experience – Required:

• Bachelor’s plus 10 years’ experience in manufacturing, or

• Master’s plus 8 years’ experience in manufacturing, or

• PhD or equivalent plus 6 years’ experience in manufacturing

• Ability or receive and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

• Ability to perform light travel depending on work specifications.

• Ability to work in a production environment.

• Must complete and maintain Qualification/Certification status.
