Naval Air Systems Command MATERIALS ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in Naval Air Station San Diego, California

Summary You will serve as a Materials Engineering Technician in the Chemical Processes Branch of the Materials Engineering Department FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. Responsibilities You will write and maintain specifications including local processes specifications and special rework/processing. You will provide engineering requirement and technical support for cleaning, degreasing, anodizing, and coating of aircraft and aircraft components. You will evaluate shops and contractor produced parts/components for conformance to engineering specification requirements. You will do all other tasks/duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Demonstrating working knowledge of chemical processes used in production and plating shops for cleaning, stripping, and plating; 2) Writing and maintaining specifications including local processes specifications and special rework/processing; and 3) Providing technical support for cleaning, degreasing, anodizing, coating, and chemical paint removers used to strip paint and coating products off aircraft components.
