Overview

Senior Technical Writer

Working in an Agile software development environment, the Senior Technical Writer will design, write and implement documentation primarily for the HealthEdge GuidingCare product suite end-user and technical user audience. You will work closely with Product Owners, Developers, SMEs, QA, and database experts to learn complex business rules information and workflows, take ownership of the resulting deliverables, and communicate it in a readable, concise, and accurate manner.

In this role, you will have the ability to explore and influence new and growing areas within HealthEdge. You will work closely with engineering teams to learn complex technical information and communicate it in a clear and accurate manner, while incorporating best practices and usability. The Senior Technical Writer is an important contributor to the Technical Publications team where your voice can make a difference.

What you will do:

  • Learn complex feature and workflow information, analyze reader and user audience needs, and apply this understanding to create consumer-friendly concept, procedural, and reference information appropriate for multiple channels of output (Chatbot, PDF, online help).

  • Design and implement a variety of modes of conveying information to HealthEdge customers and internal personnel, such as online help/user guides, configuration guides, installation guides, release notes, tutorials, technical reference materials, and more.

  • Design and implement data management strategies for single-sourcing help documentation across multiple delivery modes.

  • Work within the context of multiple Agile sprint teams, using Agile methodologies, demonstrating your open-mindedness and curiosity to share ideas and provide feedback to other members (be a great team member!)

  • Edit, clarify, and proofread content written by other dept. members. Recommend and implement content organization strategies.

  • Own and manage multiple documentation projects.

  • Work with both more and less experienced writers.

What you bring:

  • BA/BS degree

  • 5+ years relevant work experience, including experience researching and writing excellent documentation for large enterprise systems.

  • Experience with Agile and software development lifecycle (SDLC)

  • Expertise in documenting business enterprise software such as healthcare, banking, or insurance.

  • Ability and comfort level with initiating contact and coordinating with SMEs to drive project progress.

  • Accountability to deadlines and independent work ethic.

  • Experience with installing and configuring software.

  • Expertise designing and building online help systems.

  • Proficiency with XML, HTML and CSS.

  • Familiarity with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server databases.

  • Experience documenting reporting systems, Data Warehouses, APIs.

  • Experience source control and/or content management systems, and with authoring tools such as MadCap Flare.
