Job Summary and Qualifications

The Senior Data Analyst is part of the Clinical Services Group (CSG) Data & Analytics organization of HCA. This team, both technically-focused and hospital-facing, is responsible for HCA’s enterprise clinical reporting. With a goal of reducing avoidable variation in clinical practice, it has proven successful through targeted programs that leverage actionable and transparent analytics to drive positive change.

As part of the Analytics Products team of CSG, the Senior Data Analyst is responsible for development and support of clinical data visualization in the form of Business Intelligence (BI) development and reporting solutions. This position requires working with cross-functional teams to translate business and clinical needs into actionable reporting, and a willingness to learn the subject-matter necessary to develop and implement clinical data requirements. To meet these needs, the Senior Data Analyst proactively collaborates with clinical partners and ITG development teams as related to the success of clinical initiatives.

This position requires a collaborative, analytical thinker who is confident interacting with key business stakeholders. It requires an ability to make sense of data, a willingness to become a subject matter expert for interpreting clinical reporting, and a proficiency in BI platform development. The Senior Data Analyst thrives on a team dedicated to developing and supporting products that promote clinical care excellence at HCA Facilities.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

•Independently builds actionable data visualizations that identify areas of opportunity and help drive Care Excellence at scale. Primary BI platform is Microsoft PowerBI.

•Develops custom metrics and reports to support the Clinical Services Group analytics framework and meet facility and division reporting needs

•Writes advanced SQL to extract and model data from multiple databases (Teradata, GCP, SQL, etc.)

•Provide Tier 4 level support for enterprise BI products

•Leads mid-scale projects independently with oversight by Manager as needed; spans collaboration with clinical stakeholders to the full product development cycle (data capture to BI integration)

•Informs development of data models in the EDW based on data visualization requirements

•Facilitates effective and respectful communication among all team members and leadership to ensure comprehensive understanding of needs, expectations and requirements

•Serves as a mentor to team members with less experience

•Maximizes productivity and accountability through effective time management, coordination, and communication

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

•Bachelor’s Degree and 3-7 years related experience.

•Expert knowledge of BI Platforms required; Microsoft PowerBI and Expert level MS Excel required

•Advanced SQL required

•Healthcare experience preferred

•Proven ability to derive value from data

•Proven ability to work independently
