Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Regulatory and Accreditation-Clinical Education is recognized as an expert within the organization for executive and leadership competence related to proactive risk mitigation and compliance with federal regulations, accreditation standards, and state statutes. The Director provides professional development specific to the strategy that supports the HCA Healthcare Hospitals and Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) senior leadership teams, board of trustees, and medical staff leaders regarding clinical performance improvement and foundational operational standards requiring facility compliance. Role is critical to HCA Healthcare strategy of proactive risk-based education, quality and patient safety and risk reduction as a differentiator of Hospital/ASC operational performance.

What you will do in this role includes:

  • Assists with developing and executing the proactive risk-based education strategy for HCA Healthcare

  • Drives positive change by providing leadership through performance improvement strategies that advance and

  • support clinical education throughout HCA Healthcare, leading to enhanced quality and financial outcomes

  • Stays abreast of legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards to assist with compliance through education and training. Supports standardization of educational initiatives to help manage variation in clinical practice and improve efficiency, effectiveness and cost.

  • Collaborates with Regulatory and Accreditation Services (RAS) Department for onsite assessment findings related to focused topics within HCA Healthcare Hospitals/ASCs including credentialing, utilization management, peer review, medical staff and board bylaws, etc.

  • Serves as a forward-facing leader of Clinical Education & Regulatory and Accreditation Services (RAS) across multiple corporate teams and committees to ensure enterprise work products are compliant with external regulatory and accreditation requirements

  • Offers education guidance for regulatory and accreditation compliance in the following manner

  • Provides assessment, planning, coordination, and development of expert consultation/education to HCA Healthcare Hospital/ASC senior leaders on foundational regulatory and accreditation compliance.

  • Serves as subject matter expert for CMS and TJC leadership, clinical, and operational aspects of performance. Serves as resource for Environment of Care and Life Safety, where appropriate.

  • Designs/delivers regulatory and accreditation education for facility executives and leaders.

  • Assists facilities with the preparation for CMS and TJC surveys and provides education support and guidance when a facility receives an adverse decision and/or condition-level finding during external survey process.

  • Conducts ongoing research to remain current with regulatory requirements from CMS, TJC, Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) and others.

  • Supports enterprise-wide regulatory and accreditation compliance and performance based on internal and external metrics through project management and timely delivery of work products

  • Presents educational programs for HCA Healthcare Hospital/ASC leaders and medical staff leaders regarding requirements of clinical performance improvement for operational compliance to public reporting including the hospital quality alliance, external quality agencies including TJC/AAAHC, CMS, state survey agencies, etc.

  • Advances HCA Healthcare delivery of safe, effective, efficient, compassionate and satisfying patient care as defined by the HCA Healthcare clinical improvement strategies through education and competency validation methods

What qualifications you will need:

  • College Graduate – Bachelor Required

  • Master or Doctoral degree

  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant work experience, Facilities Management experience strongly preferred

  • 2+ years of experience in leadership role

  • Experience with Regulatory and/or Accreditation entities as it relates to external survey activity

  • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

  • Registered nurse, Engineer/Facilities, registered or accredited health information administrator, healthcare administrator or other licensed healthcare professional - Facilities Management preferred

  • Consulting and educational program delivery skills and expertise

  • Computer knowledge and competency for presentation design and report delivery

  • Must be a team participant focused toward HCA Healthcare clinical improvement strategies

  • Expert speaking, presentation skills, executive presence, and competency.

  • Long-term position commitment required.

  • Consulting days (on-site/travel) 12-14 hours/day.
