The Successful Candidate
BAE Systems is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer - Special Processes, who will report to the Supplier Quality Manager. This individual will work across the supply base to implement tools and execute programs that ensure suppliers are prepared with robust processes and plans to deliver quality products to BAE program customers. The role will focus on Special Processes such as Heat Treating, Welding, Brazing, Plating, Coatings, and Composites. This individual will also investigate, evaluate, and resolve Supplier Quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects. You will also conduct capability assessments that verify supplier qualifications, travel to assigned suppliers, and lead multiple projects to obtain measurable results. You must be a self-starting driven problem solver who will utilize your analytical skills to find innovative solutions to quality related issues & challenges and mitigate supplier related business disruptions. Strong communication skills are required to ensure suppliers understand requirements and expectations, make progress reports and present findings.
Responsibilities:
Lead, plan, organize, and conduct onsite special process audits/assessments
Apply knowledge of materials and special process technologies to assess supplier compliance to specifications, industry standards, engineering documents or other contractual requirements
Create Special Process audit summaries that are designed to provide programs and management a clear understanding of audit results
Ability to evaluate and assess risks that may emerge from special process audit results
Interact and communicate with multi-functional teams on special processes requirements and issues
Strong understanding of root cause and corrective action analysis and implementation of preventative action
Identify risks and drive supplier accountability to risk mitigation plans & strategies
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor s Degree and 4 years direct experience or 8 years of experience in lieu of degree
Some experience with, and an understanding of, sourcing and execution in regulated, demanding industries such as Aerospace/Defense, Medical Device, or other challenging markets
Strong RCCA 8D experience training & leading suppliers and internal events
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and in diverse and different settings
Self-starter; identifies challenges/problems and takes the initiative to identify solutions
Motivates team members, fosters and nurtures teamwork
Can diffuse high-tension situations calmly and effectively
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or Manufacturing
Supplier Quality experience preferred
Advanced degree in Chemistry, Engineering or Manufacturing
Chemical Processing and Coatings experience preferred
Audit experience/certification(s) preferred
Lean-6Sigma experience/certification(s) preferred
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $95106 - $161680
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
