Position Purpose:

The position is set in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment and requires good problem-solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail. An ideal candidate would enjoy working in a positive, team-oriented workplace. Responsible for researching and correcting incoming deposit items that reject or unpost to deposit accounts for various reasons. Key Accountabilities, Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Ensure the accuracy of transactional data for customer accounts by researching and correcting information on unposted transactions, reviewing and returning stop payment transactions, and posting deposit return items.
  • Review Letters of Intent (LOI's) for compromised/ closed accounts to determine if deposit items should be paid from new accounts or returned to Federal Reserve. Work with branch personnel to collect LOI details when not on file.
  • Complete EARNS Notice for checks over $5,000 that are being returned.
  • Confirm appropriate documentation is on file to post transaction(s) to Dormant/ Restricted accounts.
  • Utilize ACH Warehouse Manual Entry to correct errors on ACH items settling next day or mark them to return to Federal Reserve if unable to identify/ correct.

Requirements:

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • One to two years' experience in banking or financial services.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with office administrative skills or certification.
  • Strong customer service and problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to respond to inquiries with tact, diplomacy and patience.
  • Exceptional organization, time management and follow-up skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, bank employees and outside service providers.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and a wide range of procedures requiring sound judgement.
  • Must have proficient typing and computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to navigate computer programs.
  • Possess the ability and desire to be cross-trained on many different job duties within the department.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work involves eye strain due to the constant use of computer screens, reading of reports and so forth.
  • Work involves being able to concentrate on the matter at hand, under sometimes distracting work conditions.
  • Work involves ability to read, hear, write, and communicate professionally both in person and via telephone, and sitting for long periods at a time.
  • Work involves some travel to attend meetings, training, and so forth.
