Position Title: Senior Application Engineer - Bulk Material Handling
Compensation Range: $90,000-95,000 USD per year

The Opportunity
Configuring material handling equipment and producing/reviewing the approval drawing through interaction with Sales, the Customer and Global Product Management, including detailed review of customer written specifications, industry/company design guides, and other best practices.
Responsibilities
Work independently within established design procedures, equipment portfolios, internal design guides and tools to produce calculations and develop project specific equipment designs or configurations meeting customer requirements.
Specific industry experience in the bulk material handling industry relevant to design of conveying solutions (elevators, belt conveyors, chain conveyors, screws, and accessory items
Produce or oversee creation and validation of an approval drawing and receives approval through interaction with the Customer
Engage other engineering resources within AGI for peer review and design support where appropriate or pursuant to internal policy.
Ultimately responsible for creating and updating engineering calculation tools, (and gets secondary review completed by a fellow Application Engineer)
Is a resource to the quoting team, to aid in ensuring we are quoting the appropriate equipment to the appropriate application. Interface with other engineers within AGI for support and feedback as appropriate.
Self-assign projects based on resource availability
Read customer specifications critically, including identification of inconsistencies therein, or opportunity for improvements, maintains a customer focus, and verifies integrity of what was quoted, entered on the order, and client expectations
Verifiy what was quoted is technically sound before beginning
Track changes in equipment designs throughout the approval process and assists with cost impact to support the change order process.
Resolve any questions that arise with the client or sales
Keep all pertinent parties advised of work status, workload, problems, and progress as related to work assignments
Delegate and reviews drawings created by Application Designer
Review issued for Fabrication drawings created by Production Engineering team to ensure it matches the customer expectations and overall design intention.
Responsible for application related document control, i.e., material handling spreadsheet updates, approval drawing revisions, etc.
Provide warranty support related to application issues to Service Manager (technical advice)
Travel to jobsites or AGI manufacturing centers when necessary
Assist engineering leadership in development and implementation of department processes and procedures.
Provide training and mentoring of junior engineering staff
Voice departmental needs, challenges, roadblocks while maintaining a continuous improvement mindset.
Coach, mentor, and provide leadership within engineering groups
Develop application related documents and tools
Other duties as required
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from accredited University
Registered P.Eng. or eligible for registration as P. Eng in any Canadian province other than Quebec
5-7 years' experience in Industrial bulk material handling industry including responsibility for equipment design specific to conveying systems (elevators, belts, screws, chains).
Excellent communicator, both verbal and written with internal and external stakeholders
Strong skills in numerical tools such as Excel and Mathcad or similar
Working knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability
Mechanical aptitude and a desire to work in a fabricated equipment environment, with a propensity for machine design
Ability to own personal development and gain an understanding of the equipment that we manufacture, how it is produced and why designs are made the way they are
Ability to think analytically and make accurate and timely decisions
Highly organized with excellent time management skills
Ability to exercise good judgment, initiative, and a strong work ethic
