General Job Description
Temporary Grant Funded Position – continued employment contingent on funding
This is a professional position responsible for assisting in grant and contract development for the department. Responsible for seeking new grant opportunities, assisting with grant proposal development, assisting with contract development and review, providing non-financial post award support, and supporting internal procedures. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to assigned supervisor.
Essential Job Functions
Identifies, analyzes, and recommends sources of potential internal and external research funding.
Advises and counsels departmental faculty and/or staff regarding internal and external funding matters and internal procedures.
Assists in management of internal grant requests for proposal (RFPs) and awards.
Provides assistance in the planning and development of proposals.
Reviews proposals for adherence to specifications of funding agency and university guidelines.
Assists with report development.
Monitors proposal and contract submissions.
Reviews and routes grant-related contracts for university review.
Provides non-financial post-award assistance to project and departmental staff in monitoring awards.
Assists with outreach and training.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university and departmental policies and procedures.
Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to grant administration.
General knowledge of the grant-making process.
Skill in using computer applications such as spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Ability to explain policies and procedures to faculty and staff.
Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
Ability to analyze and prepare complex documents and reports.
Ability to learn office and university-specific software.
Physical Demands
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Required Experience and Training
One year of related experience is required. Experience in grant writing, working in a research and sponsored programs office or at a grant-making agency is required.

Salary Information Commensurate with Experience, Hiring Salary - $25,000 to $40,000
