Job Title Graduate Teaching Assistant - Career Success Passport
General Description
This is a student position responsible for assisting faculty with teaching activities, including working with students in a specific course or laboratory to provide support for the faculty member in charge and, in some cases, teaching the course as the primary instructor, under the guidance of a faculty member.
This position provides support for the program director in managing Career Success Passport, the undergraduate professional development program.
Job Duties
Meets with students to explain the purpose and importance of program participation.
Assesses student activity submissions in D2L.
Assists in grading and recording grades.
Assists with guest speakers and special events.
Answers general questions related to the program.
May be required to take part in discussions and complete assigned readings.
May teach course as the primary instructor under the guidance of a faculty member.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Required Qualifications
The minimum education required for admittance as a graduate student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
Graduate Teaching Assistants may be required to have completed the course with a minimum grade or have a cumulative GPA above a certain minimum. The recommendation of a faculty member may be required.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.

Special Conditions for Eligibility
A student must have clear or provisional admission to the graduate school and the academic unit, be in good academic standing, and be enrolled in six or more credit hours of graduate courses to be eligible for a graduate assistantship during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for a graduate assistantship during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more credit hours of graduate courses.
