Reviews and processes utility permit requests from public utility companies, common carriers and others placing facilities on public highway right-of-ways in a district permit office. Work require extensive contact with private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Essential Duties:Permit Coordinator I:Maintains liaison and acts in a consultative capacity with local utility companies, engineering consultants and thegeneral public regarding utility placements.Performs on-site inspection of the installation/construction of driveways and utilities permitted to ensure compliancewith approved permit and to verify proper traffic control measures are being followed.Reviews and processes utility permit requests, applications, agreements and plans submitted to ensure compliance withthe Utility Accommodation Policy (UAP) and other departmental requirements with emphasis on uniform application.Consults with area engineer and/or maintenance supervisor on complex utility/driveway permit issues.Consults with engineering, maintenance and right-of-way concerning compliance with the UAP.Coordinates movement of extra large loads with MCD, maintenance and other districts.Maintains liaison with local utility companies, engineering consultants and the general public regarding utilityplacementsMaintains permit documentation, records and plan sets.Requests survey information from right-of-way.Reviews and processes driveway permits.Reviews plats and survey data related to permits and interprets plans.Works closely with city and county agencies and coordinates the departmental review of site plans for developmentsabutting the state right-of-way.Permit Coordinator II:The above and:Processes Bridge Attachment Agreements and Petroleum Substance Investigation Agreements. Assists Motor Carrier Division (MCD) Permit Operations with local routing issues and up-to-date roadway changes for the transport of oversize/overweight loads on Texas highways
