Position: Caregiver

Reports to: Home Care Agency Supervisor

Job Summary: The Caregiver is responsible for providing personal care and support services to clients to help them remain safe and comfortable in their own homes. The ideal candidate will possess a deep sense of compassion, patience, and reliability, ensuring that the client receives the best possible care and attention.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Personal Care

Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.

Help clients with mobility issues, transfers, and ambulation, ensuring safety at all times.

Assist with feeding or meal preparation as necessary.

  1. Medication Management

Remind clients to take prescribed medications at scheduled times.

Monitor and report any side effects or potential medication concerns. 3. Companionship

Engage clients in conversation and recreational activities that match their interests and capabilities.

Provide emotional and psychological support. 4. Light Housekeeping

Perform basic household tasks such as tidying up, doing laundry, and dishwashing to ensure a clean and comfortable environment.

Prepare and serve nutritious meals, ensuring any dietary restrictions are met.

  1. Errands and Transportation

Assist clients with grocery shopping, medical appointments, and other errands.

Provide or arrange transportation as required.

  1. Safety and Health Monitoring

Ensure the client's environment is safe, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.

Monitor clients' health and well-being, reporting any significant changes to the supervisor or designated contact person.

  1. Record Keeping

Maintain detailed records of services provided and any significant observations.

Document and report any incidents or changes in the client's condition or environment.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Certification in caregiving, personal support work, or a a related field is a plus.

Previous caregiving experience or training.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation if driving is required.

Must pass a background check.

CPR and First Aid certification.

Ability to communicate effectively in English (other languages are a plus).

Compassion, patience, and a caring demeanor.

Ability to work independently and handle stressful situations with calmness.

Physical ability to lift and assist clients as needed.

High levels of discretion, professionalism, and reliability. Work Environment: Work primarily takes place in clients' homes. The caregiver must be adaptable to various living situations and preferences of clients. Travel between clients may be required.
